-
- “XXX, I would like your help”
- avoid personal: e.g. “can you do me a favor?”
-
- Tell Them Why You’re Asking THEM
- Why we ask for personal A but not person B
-
- “Would you please take responsibility for …?”
- objection → “If I can solve your xxx concern, will you agree?”
-
- describe what they will be doing
- and address their concerns
-
- Deadline / Quality standards / Reporting Standards (DQR)
-
- “What do you need from me?”
Notes
”I am busy”
- “Okay. You’ve got a concern about workload. Let’s address that.”
- Try asking: ..
- Spend an hour today or tomorrow.
- Make a list of everything you are working on.
- List all your work in order of importance
- Put down the amount of time it takes you each week.
- Ask for recommendations of stuff that could be aborted
- Ultimately, the manager is going to make the final decisions.
- ※ For the aborted tasks, all questions come back to the manager.
Avoid reverse delegation
- “No. You can do that.” .. - “I trust you”
- “I want you to mess it up a couple of times”
No to task delegation
- 3 or more no’s → explain the consequences
- e.g. it’s ok to say “no”, but as company is kept changing / growing, but the no’s from you send a message to me that..
